As the ACSC Finale will be quite a bit away from IKT this year, we wanted to still have some presence by having a LiveCTF that will be streamed to the IKT venue.
Format#
There will be three rounds of LiveCTF with 30 minute duration each. The LiveCTF will be a Jeopardy-style CTF, where each round is played by one player of your choice per team and contains one challenge with placement based on the order of submission.
You will be told the category for the first round at the beginning of the competition. The other two rounds will be announced after the previous one has finished. So you will have some time to prepare and discuss who of you should take the lead on the next round (you can send the same player all three times, but it might make more sense to send the person that is the best for the given category).
The first solution will receive 10 points, the second will receive 9, etc (8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1). All teams that do not manage to submit a solution in time receive 0 points. Depending on the progress of all teams, we might decide to release hints to aid in solving. These will be posted on Discord and also provided verbally. If, after the 30 minutes of standard time, no team has submitted a solution, we might extend the time by 10 more minutes (to a total of 40 minutes) before it ends.
Points from the LiveCTF will flow into the overall scoring, and the rounds are played between all ten teams in all three rounds. Participating in LiveCTF is mandatory, leaving it early is only allowed after having solved the challenge.
The three slots will be at:
- 12:30-13:15
- 14:30-15:10
- 16:20-17:00
The first and third slot will be streamed to IKT and a recording might be published after the fact.
Keep in mind that also here the no-AI rules apply.
Streaming#
The LiveCTF will be streamed with commentary to the IKT. To capture your screen, we will use a browser based screen-sharing solution (https://vdo.ninja/). It is your responsibility to make sure before the competition, that you can share your screen through your browser, if you want to be a LiveCTF player for your team (this is especially for the funky Linux distro users).
You will not need to talk during the LiveCTF and will not be able to hear the live commentators, which means you can put your full focus on it. The commentators and the IKT participants will be able to see your screen and will comment on your actions, so please make sure to have a clean desktop and no sensitive information visible.
We currently plan on having the first two rounds streamed to the IKT main hall during lunch break, but exact timing and delivery depends on open factors.
